Robert Estill & John Dozier
Two industry professionals whose combined experience in pneumatic systems and fluid handling formed the foundation of Air Products Company in 1950.
Founded on partnership and industry experience
Air Products Company was founded in 1950 through the partnership of Robert Estill and John Dozier—two individuals with deep roots in the industrial equipment industry.
Robert Estill was an original Hansen Manufacturing representative and distributor, serving customers throughout the southeastern United States. His experience centered around pneumatic systems and quick disconnect couplings—technology that Hansen pioneered.
John Dozier brought a complementary background as a lubrication pump salesman for Graco Inc. When Graco offered John the opportunity to become a distributor in 1950, the two joined forces to build a company around air-driven equipment and fluid handling systems.
At the time, Graco’s product line was powered primarily by compressed air—a standard that continues today. Combined with Hansen’s leadership in pneumatic quick disconnect couplings, the partnership naturally led to the name Air Products Company.
That original foundation—air-powered systems, trusted manufacturers, and practical product knowledge—continues to define the company today.
